USA warns it’s running out of money to aid Ukraine

USA warns it’s running out of money to aid Ukraine

The White House budget director, Shalanda Young, has warned that the United States is running out of time and money to support Ukraine in its war with Russia.

The Biden administration has requested nearly $106 billion from Congress to fund plans for Ukraine, Israel, and border security. However, funding for Ukraine has become politically controversial among some right-leaning lawmakers.

A CNN public poll revealed that majority American voters opposed sending more aid to Ukraine, highlighting the eroding support of Ukraine.

Republicans like Donald Trump insist that money for Ukraine would be better spent on domestic issues.

Young emphasized that cutting off funding and weapons supply to Ukraine would increase the likelihood of Russian victories. She stated that without congressional action, the US will run out of resources by the end of the year.

Netanyahu corruption trial to resume amidst war

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's corruption trial has resumed after a two-month pause due to the state of emergency declared after the October 7 Hamas attacks.

Netanyahu faces charges in three separate cases, including fraud, breach of trust, and bribery.

He denies any wrongdoing.

The most serious case, Case 4000, involves allegations that he advanced regulatory benefits worth over $250 million to his friend in exchange for positive coverage in an online news site.

Netanyahu has called the indictments a "stitch-up" and claims they are an effort by Israel's liberal and media elites to topple him and his right-wing bloc.

He is not required to step down from office unless he is convicted and that conviction is upheld throughout the appeals process.

Earlier this year, his government passed a law effectively stripping the country's courts of the power to declare a prime minister unfit for office, which critics argue was passed for Netanyahu's benefit amid the ongoing corruption trial.

23andMe confirms hackers stole ancestry data on 6.9 million users

Genetic testing company 23andMe announced on Friday that hackers accessed the personal data of approximately 14,000 individuals, or 0.1% of its customers.

However, it was later revealed that the breach affected 6.9 million individuals in total, including approximately 5.5 million people who opted-in to the company's DNA Relatives feature.

The stolen data included names, birth years, relationship labels, DNA shared with relatives, ancestry reports, and self-reported locations.

Another 1.4 million people who opted-in to DNA Relatives had their Family Tree profile information accessed.

The breach occurred in October and was caused by customers reusing passwords. The hackers were able to access the personal data of both the account holder and their relatives through the DNA Relatives feature.
